Am I still in time?

To wish you a Happy Valentine?!

We usually don't celebrate Valentine, because this celebration is just not us.

Though I do have a bouquet.
Another man than my husband surprised me with this...
My husband works for 10 years at the same company and to celebrate this we had a very nice dinner, a present for him and a bouquet for me.

These branches should have been filled with those card-labels on top of this post.
Mmm I'll keep them till next year. Then I'll be the first with Valentine decoration!

We call these branches 'katjes' which means kittens. These flowers start like little furs, so soft and not flower like at all. They are another messenger that spring is coming.

These branches are some kind of Salix.

My favorite heart

Some vignettes:

Some love letters....

Love letters unpacked.

Peter started writing Sjaan in 1942 and they married in March 1944.
It's a little sad that their love letters ended up at Rotterdam market. On the other hand; I bought them there, treat them with respect and those letters play a part in Valentine decoration. Well how cool is that, while other letters have been thrown in the waste bin?

The mantle, centerpiece filled with heart shaped mercury glass.

Tip: the border of this heart is made from kitchen paper.

Another Valentine vignette?
No especially for Elly; it's my Pip diary and one of the fabrics I'm going to use in the Pip room.
Have a nice weekend whether you celebrate a special Valentine's day or not.

Have fun and remember; every day can be a special day. xoxo LiLi

I agree with you on your favorite valentine! That is very cute with the bisque doll.
Pip must be something like Cath Kidston? Bright colors? I love your little book.

All your things are so very pretty & I'm pleased that you are the guardian of the love letters.

Your "kittens" must be what we call "pussy willow".

Fijne Valentijnsdag!

Happy Heart Day to you my dear friend!

Your vignettes are lovely as always - And that's a fabulous idea to display old love letters. Their faded words and aged papers make for a delicate & inspiring scene...

Dearest Lili!
Your oh so long and oh so lovely posts. A joy to read as always. I don`t celebrate Valentine either. Romance is a everyday thing I think. Not for just once a year.... But I like hearts in all kind of shapes and yours were just beautiful. All the winners must be feeling very lucky today!

Have a great week my dear friend!

See you soon again!

I love your hearts- especially the ones in the pretty paper I recognize that I got from you. Your love letters (and pen and ink) are a treasure and I think that its wonderful that they ended up with you rather than the trash bin- so you can share them with us!

Your art nouveau compote is simply beautiful!

Hi Lili! You always have the best stuff!! I love all the hearts, especially your favorite too - darling!! All the hearts would look fabulous on the kitty branches. We call those pussy willows. I love how soft they are - but they aren't a good think to put in your nose. Speaking from a childhood experience. hehe I'm not into celebrating Valentine's Day either. My hubby and I have always said we celebrate it everyday. I do love to put out my vintage valentines and other decor for the day and get the girls little gifts though, so I guess I celebrate in some ways. hehe

Whatever a plant is called that references to a kitty is beautiful to me. The cloche with the vintage Valentine is the perfect lovely centerpiece.
Thank you for your visit and ALL the information on De Ruijter's hagelslag. My favorite is milk chocolate sandwiched in white(soft)bread with butter, of course. It always reminds me of my childhood friend from Holland that shared it with me. I hope you visit again!

Sweet Wishes,
