Hot Summer!

Hi you all out there!

I cannot remember when we were having such lovely weather in spring and in early summer as this year. It's hot 'round here. The kids start their last week school next week and then the vacation starts finally! Meanwhile we are already getting in the mood; having bbq's, drinking cooled wines in the garden etc. For you over there in the States; have a nice Independence Day weekend!

This is what I have been up to:

Omdat Z. nog treinkaarten had besloten we nog een dagje erop uit te trekken, het werd Amsterdam. Dit grappige hebbedingen winkeltje in de Jordaan lijkt net een oude kruidenier. Klik op de foto voor meer detail.

My lovely neighbour Z. was having tickets for the train that were almost expired so we had to go somewhere. Our destination was Amsterdam. We love the little shops over there in the 'Jordaan', as well as the brocante market 'Amsterdam Mont Martre' at the Noordermarkt.


Hier poseert Z. opnieuw met een wild zwijn, maar deze was 175 euro ipv gratis zoals in Antwerpen.
Of course we bumped into a boars' head again. But this time it was a whopping 175 euros, you do remember us finding one for free in the streets of Antwerp don't you? If not, just check this.
The Amsterdam market usually is more expensive than markets over here, but there is a lot of good stuff to be found, like this:


Ik vind Amsterdam altijd wel duur, maar je ziet er soms ook wel heel mooie en aparte dingen, zoals dit speelgoed postkantoortje.
A French antique post office.


Kijk er zitten ook nog allemaal leuke dingetjes bij zoals een inktpotje en een stempel en allerlei papieren.

Deze dame ging mee naar Dordrecht.
I couldn't resist this lovely little lady.


O ja, voor degenen die niet weten wat ze met die meters lint in de kast moeten doen...
Does anyone need some inspiration what to do with yards and yards of ribbons lying in the closet? Or with a locker machine?


En zondag stond Hoek van Holland dan weer op het programma.
Last Sunday I went to Hoek van Holland to the car boot sale again.


Ik kan nooit genoeg krijgen van vintage kerstversiering, 2 euro met het glimmende 'Vrolijk Kerstfeest'.
I can never get enough of vintage Christmas ornaments, 2 euro this lot, including the sparkling Vrolijk Kerstfeest (Happy Christmas) in the previous photo. Just click on the photo to see more details.


Dit kwartet en die hondjes vind ik zoooo leuk.
I love these vintage playing cards and the little terriers.


En ik ben ook dol op dit soort kitch. Ik zal de volgende keer eens laten zien waar ik alles gelaten heb, ok?

And I was so happy to find this little German clock for 1,50.
Next time I'll show you where I have put all these lovelies, ok?

en dan zijn Z. en ik ook nog naar de bios geweest 'the Duchess', hier in de provincie draait alles wat later!

And Z and I went to see the Duchess ^, we loved it!


Verder stond er nog een surprise visit van mijn nichtje met 2 van haar kids op het programma.
Next day my cousin arrived with her 2 small ones for a fun visit. (Here they're leaving...). We had a lovely day, talking, shopping and even a little crafting:


We hadden zelfs nog tijd om te knutselen. De bekertjes zijn geshopt, die dag. Maar de kussen hoesjes en de wasknijper zak maakte mijn nichtje vlot op mijn zojuist gerepareerde naaimachine.
Here is my cousins' loot: she bought the 2 rose cups and made the 2 cushion covers as well as the peg bag over here.


Ik kreeg van de buurvrouw van mijn nichtje wat restanten Pip behang, dus ik maakte voor haar deze bijna typische LiLi tag.
And I made this tag to give to my cousins' neighbor who gave me a lot of Pip wallpaper. Now I hear you thinking: whatever happened to the Pip room, LiLi started around Christmas? Well my sewing machine has been repared last week, I am still searching for some second hand furniture. My daugher is already happy and you... you have to be patient :-P

Of course it isn't allways a bed of roses at LiLi's though I try to avoid drama over here. The last year I had a lot on my mind.
Pip? Hoor ik jullie denken. Hoe zat het toch met die Pip kamer. Die kamer vordert maar heel gestaag. Ik heb het afgelopen jaar nogal wat aan mijn hoofd gehad. Dat werkte niet mee. Maar niemand hier zit op mijn problemen te wachten. Wat ik er wel over kwijt wil is dit:

Is het toeval dat juist in de straat waar de vreselijkste en meest bekrompen vrouw die ik in tijden ontmoette en die helaas een rol in mijn 'drama' speelt werkt dit bushuisje staat? Ik denk dat het een teken is!
The only thing I want to say here:
Is it really a coincidence that this bus stop is in the very street where the nastiest and most narrow minded woman I met in a long time works? (and I cannot avoid her, on the contrary I need her). I cannot help thinking that this is a token!

Maar laten we positief eindigen:
Morgen is er weer de gezellige Dordtse boekenmarkt.
In Brugge beginnen de Zandfeesten met een enorme brocante.
Het gerucht gaat dat de franse handelaren hier inkopen voor Lille.
Tomorrow I will be hanging out here^
The Dordrecht book market, which is always fun,
the centre of Dordrecht will be one huge book market.
And of course for those who live closer to Belgium; tomorrow the Zandfeesten in Bruges start with an enourmous brocante market down town. Rumour has it that the French are buying here to sell in Lille in September.
