Tilburg Textiel Weekend

     Dit weekend was het Textiel weekend in Tilburg.

This weekend the city of Tilburg, in the south of the Netherlands, was textile city.  There was a lot of fun going on. Wherever you saw an embroidered arrow:

Waar je de geborduurde pijl zag op straat, daar was wat te zien!

There was something to see. Here in the environment of the textile museum there were exhibitions of primary school childrens' work. Here^ the colored trees made by young children (4-6 yrs). The theme was respect, so there was a lot of recycling and upcycling (=to make something better out of waste) to be seen.
Ik heb voornamelijk in de omgeving van het Tilburgs textiel museum rondgelopen, waar veel werk hing van schoolklassen. Het thema was respect, dus er was heel veel hergebruikt materiaal te zien. 

Gelukspoppetjes/lucky dolls

Too bad a lot of work was behind windows, but I'll post some photos anyway! 

Jammergenoeg hing veel werk achter glas, maar ik zet toch wat foto's op mijn blog!

These dolls were meant as 'lucky dolls' I love that idea. 

De poppetjes hierboven zijn geïnspireerd op gelukspoppetjes, ik vond ze erg leuk.

Old stockings were used to make this^ Medusa and 

these flowers. 

Van oude sokken en maillots waren Medusa's en bloemen gemaakt. 

I thought this window was most inspirational;

The schoolchildren decorated their own pictures with hats and necklaces and so on, made from old fabrics, feathers and buttons.

  Ik vond dit^ zo'n leuke ruit! Schoolkinderen hadden hun eigen foto van een hoed en ketting enzo voorzien en daarbij oude stoffen, veren en knopen enzo gebruikt: 

These african scepters have been made from recycled stockings again. 

Deze Afrikaanse scepters zijn ook weer van oude sokken gemaakt.  

There were some artists who opened their store especially today. 

Sommige textielartiesten hadden speciaal voor de gelegenheid hun winkel geopend. 

And here in the textile museum most of the action was going on, but I wasn't allowed to take photos everywhere. On top of that there was so much to see, lovely workshops and live blogging bloggers, that I simply forgot to take a photo :-}.

De meeste activiteit vond natuurlijk in het textielmuseum plaats, maar daar mocht je op lang niet alle plaatsen fotograferen. Hoewel ik er wel bij moet zeggen dat er zoveel leuke dingen en mensen te zien waren, dat ik het gewoon vergat :-}. Er waren heel veel leuke workshops en er werd zelfs 'life geblogd'. 

The museum is housed in an old textile factory. Here the large steam engine, still at work! 

Het textielmuseum is gehuisvest in een oude textielfabriek waar de grote stoommachine gewoon nog werkt! 

I love these old industrial features and who doesn't? They are highly fashionable nowadays. 

Geweldig toch al die oude industriële attributen, geen wonder dat die hoogst modieus zijn.  

This dresser would be perfect for me!

Dit ladenkastje mag per direct bij mij komen wonen!

The fabrics that are woven here are simply gorgeous!

De stoffen die hier vandaag de dag geweven worden zijn ware kunstwerken! 

Ik heb geen idee wat er vanavond met blogger aan de hand was, maar het kostte me uren om mijn foto's te uploaden. Inmiddels is het maandag geworden en zal ik er nog eentje moeten toevoegen:
