Tilburg Textiel Weekend

This weekend the city of Tilburg, in the south of the Netherlands, was textile city.  There was a lot of fun going on. Wherever you saw an embroidered arrow:
There was something to see. Here in the environment of the textile museum there were exhibitions of primary school childrens' work. Here^ the colored trees made by young children (4-6 yrs). The theme was respect, so there was a lot of recycling and upcycling (=to make something better out of waste) to be seen.
Gelukspoppetjes/lucky dolls
Too bad a lot of work was behind windows, but I'll post some photos anyway!
These dolls were meant as 'lucky dolls' I love that idea.
Old stockings were used to make this^ Medusa and
these flowers.
I thought this window was most inspirational;
The schoolchildren decorated their own pictures with hats and necklaces and so on, made from old fabrics, feathers and buttons.

These african scepters have been made from recycled stockings again.
There were some artists who opened their store especially today.
And here in the textile museum most of the action was going on, but I wasn't allowed to take photos everywhere. On top of that there was so much to see, lovely workshops and live blogging bloggers, that I simply forgot to take a photo :-}.
The museum is housed in an old textile factory. Here the large steam engine, still at work!
I love these old industrial features and who doesn't? They are highly fashionable nowadays.
This dresser would be perfect for me!

The fabrics that are woven here are simply gorgeous!

I don't know what was wrong with blogger on Sunday night, but it took me hours to upload my photos.
Now it is Monday, so I needed to upload one more photo:

Congrats to you big AL!
Have a nice day!
xoxo LiLi M.

LILI DEAR! Fun and festivities always seem to be happening in your neck of the woods and these displays look just fabulous! I love children's art work. What they are able to do with scraps of fabric is such an inspiration to those of us who love to work with our hands. I hope your weather is wonderful; our autumn is beginning to take shape with all the colorful trees and cool weather, it is such a delight. I send you my warm regards dear friend and enjoy every moment with your loved ones! Anita

Hihi, had je mijn trouwfoto net even gezien!

Dear LiLi,

dear LiLi,

I can't tell you how many times I get to wonderful places and I've etiher forgotten my camera or like you get so caught up in what I'm seeing, I forget to take photos.(LOL)

You still managed to give us a taste of your day with some great photos. How fun to have a textile day like this.

Hugs!

Dear LiLi,
These works are ALL FABULOUS! Textiles make me very happy and all of these children work is uplifting and happy. Like the Lucky Dolls, the fabric hats on photos, the African Scepters. It is great to know that the textile arts are being kept alive in FULL force!

Ma belle Lili! YOu came to try on a pair of boots...and the tall ones are popular chez toi this year, hey? I love all kinds of boots. I particularly love the short ones! AND, thank you for your dear comments about my art work. I am having fun resurrecting an old and long lost skill I had once, but with practice, I hope to develop a certain style of pen and ink. It is fun!! Enjoy a lovely autumn day in your BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY! Lots of love to you dearest, Anita

Fijn weekend!

Fijn weekend!!!!!!!
