A collection of fifteen: lace bobbins

Today I'll show you 15 lace bobbins:
Vandaag laat ik 15 kantklosjes zien;
I bought these on a flea market in Belgium. I use them to put lace on them, as decoration or to swap.
The bobbins are totally messed up, but this is how they are used to make lace.
Here the lace bobbins are covered with lace in the matchbox of inspiration swap.
This was our destination yesterday, deep down south: Maastricht!
Hier waren we dan gisteren: Maastricht!
Walking around town.

Collecting more door knockers and letter slots.
Nog meer deurkloppers en brievenbusplaten verzamelen....
Did a little shopping...

As in any country the South of our country is much more colorful! Maastricht certainly is a mundane city, quite the opposite of the town where I live, though that has it's beauty too.

Of course we had the special pie that Maastricht and surroundings is famous for; 'vlaai'! And we had a lovely lunch and dinner as well. It was a wonderful day, thanks hubby!

Thanks for your visit, xoxo LiLi M.

lieve groet Lia

What a lot of dedicated work must have gone into making that lace... look at all those bobbins!

I have a piece of my vintage blue transferware that is marked "Maastricht" on the bottom... nice to see where it comes from! =)

I've never seen lace bobbins before (much less 15 of them!)

I like this collection a lot; they do work wonderful as matchbox gifts.
What a beautiful place you went to yesterday.
Love all the stonework and that bridge is gorgeous.
I can just imagine walking over that hand and hand.
Cute picture of you in the doorway…like your coat.

Oooh, I could do with those for winding some of my laces on! I wonder if there is anything that you don't have a collection of, lol. I am pretty sure I could just pluck something out of the air, and you would have it.

Top verrassing!
Tot morgen.

Lili amor, how lovely your bobbins are, I think I am gonna have to start looking through my own lil treasures and see what we can swap lol My Ita loved to do tatting, so when I find lil bits and pieces of it, I snatch them up, same with the lace bobbins and tatting tools, my collection so far is so petite...1 wood, 2 plastic :) Your lil trip looks beautiful, I think not only does your pie look yummmy, but with views like you had..must have tasted marvelous :) Besos, Rose

What a clever way to use the bobbins and they look lovely with the lace wrapped around them.

I haven't commented before, but I've enjoyed your blog for a while. My husband and I lived in Rotterdam for a year earlier in this decade and miss it a lot. Your beautiful pictures of the country are a nice way to be able to remember it.

Groetjes,
Kelly

Oh I do so love it when you take me to town with you Lili! You live in such a beautiful place my friend.
I absolutely love those bobbins. I have always been fascinated by the art of tatting and the tools used. I love the picture of the ones nestled in the little matchbox ready for a swap.
hugs

Hoi Lili,
Groetjes, Janneke.

These bobbins are really great to wind laces around. I have to watch out for them. What a pretty hat shop! Unfortunately they became so rare. The cake looks delicious, I could just have it for breakfast but I know I will only have a fruit salad :-).
Hugs,
Julia
